International IT relocation
Project
Multiple US, UK & Europe relocations
Impact
Seamlessly managed complex logistics & importation
Our customer, a leading international gaming company, needed to successfully relocate IT assets across various data centers in the US, UK, and Europe. Key moves included:
1. UK and Gibraltar 2. Sweden and Malta 3. UK and Las Vegas, US
Following Brexit, cross-border IT asset transfers across the UK and Europe grew increasingly complex. This customer required a relocation partner with strong expertise in IT asset logistics and a thorough understanding of varying customs protocols across multiple countries to ensure smooth transitions.
Strict Chain of Custody
Chain of custody when carrying data storage devices, could not be maintained via air shipments so ground transportation across several countries was required.
Different customs regulations
Different countries have different customs regulations & different import duties. The key to success was having a strong understanding of what was required to avoid customs delays.
Transport coordination
Each of the UK & EU moves required both long haul trucking and ferry transportation. Skilled coordination between land and sea transport was needed to maintain continuity.
Approach
MultiTek provided end-to-end relocation services including the de-installation of assets at the origin, cross-border transportation, customs clearance, last mile delivery and re-installation of assets at destination.
Given the sensitive nature of gaming data, ensuring data security was paramount. Air transport for any data storage devices would have required placing IT devices in the cargo hold, compromising the chain of custody. Therefore, a secure combination of ground and ferry transport was used to protect data integrity.
UK to Gibraltar (~1,800 miles): The shipment began in Leeds, UK, and proceeded via ground transport through France and Spain. The journey concluded with a ferry transfer from the Spanish mainland to Gibraltar.
Sweden to Malta (~2,200 miles): Starting in Stockholm, Sweden, the shipment traveled by truck to the ferry point, crossing into Denmark. It then continued through Germany and Switzerland, journeying to Italy's southern tip before a final ferry transfer to Malta.
For the UK to Las Vegas, US (~5000 miles): Only compute & network devices were shipped. MultiTek arranged secure air freight followed by last-mile delivery to the final destination.
The same MultiTek crew accompanied UK and EU shipments, providing continuity and secure handling from start to finish.
For all moves, MultiTek handled all customs documentation, import declarations and pre-payment of duties on behalf of the customer, streamlining cross border moves and reducing any potential customs delays.
Outcome
MultiTek successfully executed each relocation on schedule and ensured all assets arrived safely. Leveraging a strong expertise in IT asset importation, MultiTek prevented customs delays, enabling a smooth and efficient process for the customer.
With MultiTek's global reach and local expertise, the client continues to rely on us for international relocations, trusting our ability to manage complex logistics seamlessly.
